Adopt a Service Member
Here is how YOU can help a Service Member from Isanti County. Isanti County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and local Military Support groups are collecting items to be sent overseas to the men and women in the military. The following partial list is a suggestion of items that are needed/wanted by service members: Packaged drinks such as ground coffee, instant coffee, tea bags, hot chocolate, hot cider. Packaged creamers, sugar and sweeteners. Snacks such as energy bars, chips (small, hard containers, pretzels (small, hard containers), salsa, nuts, trail mix, cookies, non-melting candies, gum, non-perishable beef jerky, granola bars, Oreos, snack cakes, cheese crackers, salty snacks, packaged fruit pies, single bottle-sized drink mixes such as Gatorade and Crystal Light. Personal care items such as sunblock, lip balm, lotion, eye drops, tooth brushes (new in package), tooth paste, dental floss, cotton swabs, disposable razors, shampoo, individualized packaged tissues, individualized packages baby wipes, powder. Word games and puzzles, foam footballs and foam basketballs, Frisbees, hacky sacks, playing cards, movies of any kind. Magazines e.g. (firearms, sports, activity). Female service members especially like: Feminine products, craft kits, emery boards, coloring books with colored pencils (crayons melt).
The United States Post Office has a program to mail these items overseas for a discounted rate. Please drop off the items to be sent overseas at the following location: Veteran's Affairs Office in the Government Center 555 18th Ave SW Cambridge.
